The picturesque Castlereagh district on the Nepean River just north of Penrith, New South Wales, was being farmed by white settlers when Governor Macquarie visited in November 1810. This blog aims to bring together information about all the first European families who lived there. Much of the pioneering groundwork has been done by other researchers, and links to these sources will be provided here. Dedicated to my Castlereagh ancestors, the Clarke, Smith, Appledore and Clemson families.
